Piper Heidsieck is a renowned Champagne house operated in Reims from 1785. Florens-Louis Heidsieck founded it. The company partnered with the Descours family and became a part of the EPI group in 2011.
The history behind Piper Heidsieck Champagne
The Piper Heidsieck Champagne house was first started in 1777 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck. He was a German winemaker who had ambitions to create wines worthy of the royals. So the first brand ambassador for the company was the French Queen, Marie Antoinette.
The company was flourishing with the inseparable pair of Christian Heidsieck and Henri-Guillaume Piper. It became a campaign for the royals, where it was even awarded royal warrants to Chinese emperors and different Imperial courts in Europe.
After the death of Christian Heidsieck in 1835, Piper married his widowed wife, which led to the continuation of the Champagne house. In the year 1885, at the Centennial Celebration of the house, they created a jeweled bottle with gold, diamonds, and lapis lazuli with the star jeweler of Russian Tsar Alexander III.
The company soon began appearing in many Hollywood movies, including Laurel and Hardy and Marilyn Monroe. It is also the official supplier to the Cannes Film festival and other renowned film festivals worldwide.
