In the year 181, a former copper and bottler purchased lands named “La Tour Glorieux” and “Plaisances.” He later gave it to Eugene Laurent, who was a Cellar Master. He ran it with his wife, Emilie Perrier. After his death, his wife took over and gave the brand another name, and this is how the brand got its name. She named it Veuve Laurent-Perrier, where Veuve means widow. Under her, the champagne brand managed to succeed by producing 50,000 cases.
