The history behind 1800 Tequila

The Beckmann Family owns 1800 tequila. It is named after the year the first aging began of the tequila began in oak wood. Proximo Spirits are the distributor of 1800 from Jalisco, Mexico, all over the United States.  

King Ferdinand VI of Spain, after lifting the ban on tequila production in 1795, ordered Jose Antonio Cuervo to start a business. Before 1800 the brand was named Cuervo 1800 Tequila and later in 1975 changed just to 1800. Silver, Añejo, and Reposado were all launched in the year 2004. The Ultimate Margarita, made with premix and tequila, was launched in 2006.
