About T1 Tequila
T1 Tequila, also termed Tequila Uno, is one of the new brands of Tequila established in Mexico. The company was founded by the master distiller of the Chinaco Tequila line, German Gonzalez.
The history behind T1 Tequila
German Gonzalez created T1 Tequila after he moved to San Antonio in 2003. He created the company after his father’s death in the early 90s, when he was heading ‘Chinaco Tequila’ for about ten years.
German Gonzalez’s grandfather, Manuel Gonzalez, was a well-renowned President of Mexico. While German’s father, Guillermo Gonzalez Diaz Lombardo, closely worked with agave cultivators and introduced ultra-premium Tequila into the United States. This ultra-premium Tequila was named Chinaco, where German Gonzalez closely worked with his father and learned the art of creating handcrafted Tequila using traditional methods.
German Gonzalez has a vision for making agave-flavored Tequila using mature agave for root flavors. He himself handpicks mature agave by picking up the Pina’s with the brown ring. The company cultivates their agave Azul in a place called Atotonilco.
The mature agave has a higher concentration of natural sugar, which, when fermented and processed, produces high-quality tequila with good citrus flavors. They slowly roast the agave in autoclave ovens for 20 hours, which gives a distinct flavor profile to the tequila made by the brand.
Why is T1 Tequila So Popular?
T1 Tequila is one of the first ultra-premium tequila imported into the United States from Mexico. The tequila is made using mature agave Azul grown in the highlands of Jalisco, which creates strong citrus flavors in the drink. The drink pairs excellently with the US version of Mexican food.
