About Rhum J.M
Rhum J.M. is a premium rum brand that is produced in the Caribbean island of Martinique. The name of the distillery comes from the initials of the founder Jean-Marie Martin. It is based at the site of Martinique’s oldest distillery of rum which dates back to the year 1790. The distillery grows its own sugarcane, adding to the quality of the rum produced. Rhum is also among the rums produced sustainably and minimally impacts the natural environment.
The history behind Rhum J.M Rum
Started in 1790 with the purchase of the land for the distillery by Antoine Leroux-Préville at the foot of Mt. Pelée. Jean-Marie Martin bought the company in 1845, created the J.M. brand, and started creating his signature rums. In 1914 the Crassous de Médeuil family again bought the distillery. Group Bernard Hayot acquires the distillery along with the brand’s trademark to re-invest into it and keep producing the amazing rum. In 2016 the distillery was converted into a no-waste distillery.
