D’Usse Cognac VSOP

D’Usse VSOP Cognac is made from a selection of the finest Eaux-de-vie, which are aged for at least 4 and half years to impart a bold and rich flavor to the drink. In addition, they mature the wine spirits selected for the blend in the cellars of the Château de Cognac, which gives it powerful aromas and characteristics.

The deep amber-colored cognac has rich woody notes with layers of cinnamon and floral aromas. It has a smooth taste with hints of spices, almonds, honey, and dried fruits. The drink gives an exceptionally smooth and distinct flavor with undertones of spice, cedar, caramel, ginger, figs, raisins, and honey. It gives a pleasant medium finish with the gentle alcohol kick in the end.

The bottle comes in a distinctively squat decanter that features the cross of Lorraine, a symbol of honor, courage, and perseverance in France. The decor gives it a medieval gothic feel.

D’Usse Cognac is matured in French oak barrels, distilled in a copper pot, and bottled at 80-proof. They released it in the year 2012, and the bottle is available in the sizes of 750 ml, 375 ml, and 200 ml. It costs about $50-$55 for 750ml.

D’Usse XO Cognac

D’Usse XO Cognac blend of old Eaux-de-vie for a minimum of 10 years in French oak barrels, which gives the drink a rich flavor and complexity. The wine spirit is hand-selected by the cellar master, Michael Casavecchia, who finds the rarest Eaux-de-vie to create the XO Cognac.

The brilliant mahogany-colored cognac has lovely aromas of cloves, currants, and coffee. The palate has rich notes of ripe blackberry, coffee, cinnamon, dark chocolate, walnut, and apricot. It gives a balanced and well-rounded finish with lingering burnt sugar and toffee notes. The creamy drink has a spectrum of sweet flavors.

The signature dessert-focused cognac comes in an ultra-cool black decanter with a matching black stopper and the iconic cross symbol with metallic hints on the front of the bottle. It is 80-proof. The bottle costs between $230 -$250 for 750ml.

About D’Usse

Michael Casavecchia, one of the senior-most cellar masters, conceived the D’Usse spirits. Shawn Jay-Z Carter founded the company. Sovereign brands first started the company but later sold to Château de Cognac, a subsidiary of Bacardi and Jay Z. The company produces only two cognacs, D’Usse VSOP and D’Usse XO.

The History behind D’Usse Cognac

D’Usse Cognac was first curated by one of the most iconic cellar masters, MichealCasavecchia, and founded by Jay-Z Carter. They produced the cognacs in one of the oldest cognac houses in France.

The cellar master has been curating spirits for over 20 years at the prestigious Chateau de Cognac. This is a 200-year-old venue in France where the cellar master first created the bold and remarkably smooth character of D’Usse cognacs. The house dates back to the 15th century, and the Eaux-de-vie dates back to 1820.

The Château de Cognac is a 16th-century castle on the banks of the River Charente in Cognac, France. The cellars have extremely high humidity because they are nearest to the river, giving it a strong woody flavor, smoothness, roundness, and floral notes to the cognacs.

The company’s vision was to create a modern expression of cognac, which has plenty of integrity, boldness, freedom, and authenticity. In addition, they considered D’Usse as a cultural icon that could transcend cognac for generations to come.

Why is D’Usse Cognac So Popular?

D’Usse is one of the oldest and popular cognac houses in France. They produce only two flavors of cognac by using wine-spirit produced in the cognac area of France. Since they produce the drinks from one of the iconic houses, Château de Cognac, it is highly popular among alcohol enthusiasts.

People who love drinking alcohol on neat and expect a smooth finish definitely are fans of D’Usse cognacs. Casual drinkers mostly favored the drinks over seasoned drinkers because of their soft and straightforward flavor profile.
