About Jameson Whiskey

John Jameson was the founder of the Scottish distillery in Dublin in the 17th century. It was later established by his son John Jameson II. Pernod Ricard currently owns the new Midleton distillery in County Cork.

The History behind Jameson Whiskey

John Jameson started producing Jameson Whiskey at Bow St. Distillery in Dublin in the year 1780. Later it expanded to Midleton County Cork distillery in Southern Ireland.

John Jameson was a lawyer from Scotland who founded the distillery, and his four sons took his footsteps and established the business. During the Irish war, most of the Scottish distilleries were demolished, and only a few survived, with Jameson distillery being one of them. Jameson family’s motto was ‘Sine Metu,’ which means without fear.

In 1960, Jameson, along with four distilleries in Ireland, came together to form Irish distilleries. They produced Irish Whiskey using a labor-intensive pot still distillation process. John Jameson II took over the family business, and at the end of the 19th century, it became a world-renowned Whiskey.

Irish Whiskey is triple distilled and aged for a minimum of three years for its flavor and taste. Jameson used the perfect blending techniques and aged the Whiskey in oak barrels to enhance the flavor. They also used Sherry casks and Bourbon barrels to add complexity to the Whiskey. After the mellowing time, the Whiskey is blended with water from the Dungourney River.

Why is Jameson Whiskey So Popular?

Jameson is one of the premium Irish whiskeys in the world. Alcohol fanatics love it because of its traditional distillation process and the blending of malt and grain spirits. The drink has lovely fruity flavors and sweetness. In addition, it has been the favorite amber spirit for over 200 years.
